Some girlfriends and I have recently started a tradition that I hope will continue into the future – a monthly book club! It’s about six of us in the group, and we are all really interested in new (mostly fiction) books & also drinking wine with our ladies!! It’s a great excuse to get together in front of a well manicured cheese board, and fill up some wine glasses and gossip about a book drama that has nothing to do with us. Plus, it gives each of us the opportunity to actually take the time to sit down and read a book cover to cover! I used to be an avid reader growing up, and I feel that as you get older, it gets harder to find the time to dedicate to reading. I particularly can’t read before bed, because I will quite literally stay up all night to finish it. Anyways, I’ll get off my soapbox now BUT if drinking wine & reading books with your girlfriends sounds good to you (and really who does that not sound good to), start your own book club girl!!
This month, we chose “Where the Crawdads Sing” to read, and I literally binged it in less than 6 hours. I am naturally a binge reader when I get engrossed in a book, and I literally couldn’t put it down. It was a captivating tale of a wild little girl who was essentially abandoned at the young age of 5, and grew up alone in the marsh of North Carolina. It took you through her life, up to “current” time where a mysterious murder had occured in this little small town. Of course, I don’t want to give any more than that away or spoil it for you, but I would highly recommend this book to anyone that likes mysterious stories with a little bit of romance thrown it. The book challenged your perception of the world, and even went as far as to make me tear up a bit several times throughout it. It was deeply moving at certain points, and really was an amazingly written story.
I have to say I feel like the current trend in popular fiction books right now is a murderous story with a line of romance intertwined. People just LOVE their romance/murder mysteries these days and let me tell you, I am HERE for it! Did you read the book?? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!!

P.S. I am always taking recommendations for new books, if you have a great one you’ve read, toss it my way in the comments below!!
