How To Make a Stunning & Delicious Charcuterie Board
Although I can hardly pronounce it, charcuterie boards are my absolute favorite kind of appetizer! The combo of cheese, prosciutto, fruit, and more has my mouth watering just thinking about it. In honor of my love for cheese, I put together a how-to guide on making an exquisite charcuterie board yourself!
Step 1: Secure the Right Supplies
You gotta make sure you’ve got all the good stuff on hand to get your charcuterie board ready, and make sure you have enough of it! The one pictured was really more of a grazing table, I’ll admit, but I actually bought way more than I needed.
The basics you’ll need are: a few types of cheeses (alllll kinds like blocks, slices, and circles), variety of crackers, prosciutto, salami, green and red grapes or other assorted fruit, nuts like almonds, cashews, or walnuts, pretzels, and perhaps some chocolate mixed in! The idea is to get as much variety and color as possible.
Step 2: Laying Out the Board
Allow yourself about 30-45 mins if you’re going for a big one like mine pictured! If you’re going for a smaller one on a cheese board of sorts, you can probably allow about 20 mins or so. One of the tricks I’ve found is to really crowd stuff together – you don’t want empty space on your board. You also want to let some of it hang over the edges if you’re using a cheese board. In my case, we didn’t want our dog to snag anything so I kept it within the lines!
For the grazing table look, I used wax paper over the white tablecloth so I could use the whole space without worry. Another tip is to get a few small bowls to add some dimension. I used mini cake stands for the brie circles, and small white bowls for the nuts and chocolates.
Step 3: Serve!!
Dig in! You deserve it after all that hard work!
