Today I wanted to give you all a quick peek into our home for our Christmas decor this year! As you may know, we moved into this house in June, immediately after our wedding (like I am not kidding you, we stepped foot back in Richmond and had already loaded up a trailer full to move), and needless to say, we haven’t stopped since. We have been quite literally running on all cylinders since June and I was so excited to be able to make our home a little bit cozier for the winter & holidays, and spend some time relaxing!
That being said, I don’t know about you but I have this overwhelming feeling that I have to get everything checked off my list before the year ends. There is really no logical reason any of it has to happen right this second, but I’ve been feeling an internal pressure to get as many things done as possible! I think it’s about starting the new year fresh and ready to take on whatever comes my way next.
Anyways! I am definitely going to spend some time this holiday season in relaxation with friends & family. We’ve worked hard this year and deserve it, and so do you!
For our dining room table centerpiece, I wanted to do this gorgeous apothecary jar and gingerbread house wonderland. I was able to get some little gingerbread house made and put them in two of the apothecary jars. It really feels like a winter wonderland on my table!
I picked up the apothecary jars from Michael’s, and the fake snow, little animals, and trees from Target. The little battery operated fairy lights throughout came from Amazon.
We don’t have a traditional fireplace mantel, so I decided to create a little garland situation on the base. The lanterns are actually from our wedding that we are re-using all throughout the house! I think the birch logs & birch-wrapped candles make it feel extra cozy.
The garland and lanterns are from Michaels. The deer figurines are from Target. The birch logs are from Amazon. The birch wrapped candles I’ve had for a couple of years and are from HomeGoods.
Since we do not have a traditional fireplace mantel, I had to get a little creative with our stockings. This spot by the window was juuust tall enough for them to hang nicely. Our B & C stockings are for Beau & Cali, our furkids.
Tree & garland is from Michaels, stockings are from Target, and the tree skirt is from HomeGoods.
I felt like our entryway/foyer needed a little holiday cheer too, so I wrapped some simple garland & fairy lights, and then put some old lanterns we’ve had for a while on the bottom. To give it some visual height, I put one of the lanterns on a cake stand. It’s all about getting creative with what you’ve got in this house!! Also note the little Christmas countdown wall hanging at the bottom of the steps!
Garland & Christmas countdown wall hanging are from Target, fairy lights from Amazon.
This spot above is from our coffee bar in our room off the kitchen. That particular room has had a little bit of an identity crisis, but I think we’ve settled that it’s a coffee bar/bar cart/eat in kitchen space, and generally multipurpose! I added some small decor to the coffee bar that sits on top of our large storage hutch in this room. It’s about waist height.
Nutcrackers are from Target. Pinecones and greenery are from Michael’s.
Speaking of bar carts, ours got a little upgrade for Christmas! The goal here was to create a hot chocolate bar, but I’m not sure we truly achieved that! LOL. We added some candy cane jars, garland, and little faux trees. The little house looking item is an advent calendar.
The advent calendar & garland are from Target.
Last but not least is our master bedroom. I kept the decor somewhat simple in here, but the little I did truly makes it feel so much more festive and cozy! We added garland beneath the TV, little trees on our bedside tables, and a flocked Christmas tree. You might say, what do you mean Emily?? A full on tree in your bedroom counts as simple?! To that I would say, yes!!! Because it’s not actually decorated and literally took less than 5 minutes to set up and plug in. So less than 5 mins = simple in my mind!
Our tree & garland came from Michael’s.
Hope you all enjoyed seeing some of our Christmas decor this year!! What is your favorite thing to decorate for the holidays?? Is it the tree inside, the fireplace mantel, or outside? Share in the comments below!
