I am so excited to finally be able to reveal the chicken coop the hubby & I have worked so hard on!! We built it ourselves using Woodshop Mike’s plans here. They were great plans that I would definitely recommend. We’ve never built anything before, so this was a huge learning curve for us! We borrowed the tools from both our dads (thank goodness they had almost everything we needed!). The only thing we had to purchase outright for the project was a framing nail gun. If you haven’t held a framing nail gun, they are WILDLY powerful and like half the size of me!!
After building this beaut, we have definitely found a new hobby we love and I’ve been on the biggest building spree! It really opened a new door to me of what I can accomplish with a hammer and nail in my hand. Many more projects to share soon! In the meantime, here’s the close up of our chicken coop!
The inside was taken before we put their sand litter in! We’ve also added a few shelves and hooks for poop scrapers!
Overall we love how it turned out! We have a few things we still need to add. Our nesting boxes need to be installed to the side very soon, and we’d love to extend the run and add real electric to the coop eventually. But progress is progress!
