how to be productive

In a world moving faster than ever before, and our buzzing iPhones going off all day long, it’s challenging to stay focused and productive! It’s such a necessity though for all you #girlbosses out there. We’ve got businesses to run, school and classes to manage, houses to take care of, husbands and kids to chase down, and the list goes on! Here are the best tips and tricks that have worked for me.

Lists, Lists, + More Lists!

I am such a list maker it is out of control. I make a list for every different aspect of my life and every single thing I need to do. If I don’t write it down when I think of it, it’s gone forever! Making categorized and detailed lists is the number one reason my life is not in shambles. I love clipboards & planners for lists, my favorites are below!

Day Designer Planners are my go-to!

Put Your Phone Away

This is a no-brainer if you want to get busy working and stay productive. The constant temptation and distraction of Instagram, Pinterest, Messaging, and more is too much to stay productive. So just put that phone down and away, and don’t look at it until you’re ready to take a break

Make Yourself Comfortable

Light a candle, play some soft music as background noise, get an iced coffee, pick out a comfy chair…you get the idea. I like to “set the mood” for getting down to business and hammering out a paper or report due. It helps me be in a stress-free state of mind while getting some sh*t done!

Set Small Achievable Goals + Reward Yourself When You Reach Them

Don’t overwhelm yourself with too large of a goal that you can’t achieve within a day. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your life be! Start with some small goals and when you reach them, reward yourself! Give yourself 10 minutes of screentime, a treat from the kitchen, or another iced coffee!

Do Your Most Difficult Tasks FIRST

The morning hours after waking up and proven to be the best time to do your best work. Reserve a good chunk of time in the morning to get the hardest task out of the way. Plus, you’ll feel so good having it done the rest of the day!
