In this day and age, I feel like the art of handwritten notes and stationary has really been lost. Our mothers and grandmothers used to send letters via snail mail all the time before email and cell phones were a thing! I personally love a handwritten note – it makes a thank you feel so much more genuine than simply a text. In the spirit of trying to revive snail mail and personal cards, I’ve come up with 10 things I always try to send a card or note for.
Thank You Notes
I try to send thank you cards for every gift I receive, including small gifts, or even when someone does something nice for you!
After Staying the Night
Sending a thank you card after staying the night at a friend or family member’s house is such a nice touch! They will really appreciate the thought, and will likely be more than willing to host you again!
For a Hostess
Bringing a card, or even a small gift like wine, for the host or hostess of an event will always be well appreciated.
Birthdays
Of course, sending a card and/or a gift is a must do for a birthday! Especially for those closest to you.
Condolences
Sending a sympathy or condolences card can be often overlooked, but I think the extra effort in addition to flowers or a casserole can be really appreciated. It lets the person know you are thinking of them during their difficult time.
New Baby
I love to send a congrats card when a pregnancy is announced, and again when the baby comes! Mostly because I LOVE shopping for baby stuff and it’s a great excuse to send a gift.
Wedding/Elopement
Wedding cards should be a no brainer, but sometimes elopements are not celebrated by friends and family the way they should be! I try to still send a congratulations card even when a couple decides to go the elopement route.
New Home
Purchasing a new home is so exciting and so stressful! Sending a thoughtful note or card can really mean a lot to the person or couple that is going through a big change in their life!
Graduation
Another big change in a person’s life is graduating from high school, college, or any other important kind of graduation! Sending something to let them know you are thinking of them and proud of them can mean so much!
